Faith While Waiting: Relax, Trust, And Obey
- April 15, 2025
Patience isn’t really my thing. I’m the type who loves tackling things head-on, wrapping them up quickly, and knowing exactly what’s next. But there’s another side of me too—the procrastinator. The one who keeps putting things off until it’s crunch time or, worse, I run out of time altogether.
And then there are the waiting periods—the ones God leads us into. They all feel different: sometimes they’re about growth, or rest, or maybe even correction. Whatever the reason, waiting can be *really* hard. It gets even tougher when God seems quiet, and you don’t know what the next step is.
Honestly, my first reaction in those moments? Panic. I start replaying everything, trying to figure out where I might’ve messed up or missed His directions. Then my mind spirals, looking for ways to fix it and regain control. Spoiler alert: It Doesn’t Help!
But here’s something I’ve learned recently—it’s a game-changer. When I start stressing, it’s a signal that I’m not trusting God like I should. That realization hit me like a ton of bricks. It was humbling but freeing too.
If you’re worried that you’ve missed God’s plan or that you’re not hearing Him clearly enough, don’t stress. Trust His timing. Take a deep breath. You’re not being left behind
Trust in his ability to speak to us. Not in our ability to hear the Holy Spirit. It’s not our job to make the decision to move. What to do after. Where to go next.
We’re not God. So relax and trust him. You’ll know when to move. Just remember to move immediately when He does.
What to Do During the Wait
Waiting doesn’t mean doing nothing. It’s often the time God uses to shape us. Here’s how you can make the most of it:
Lean into prayer and worship: Instead of stressing over what’s uncertain, focus on connecting with God. Worship reminds us of who He is, and prayer lets us hand our worries to Him.
Embrace growth and preparation: Use this season to reflect, learn, and grow. What’s God teaching you? How’s He equipping you for what’s next? Dive into scripture and keep an open heart.
Be present and serve: Sometimes, shifting your focus to serving others is the best way to navigate waiting. Acts of kindness and giving can turn frustration into purpose.
Remember Who God Is
Waiting can feel lonely, but don’t forget who God is. He’s faithful, loving, and in control. His plans are always good, and His timing is perfect.
Isaiah 40:31: “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
Psalm 27:14: “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Lamentations 3:25: “The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him.”
Reflection and Next Steps
What’s God shown you during waiting periods? How have you seen His faithfulness come through? Take some time to think about His past works in your life or jot down how He might be using this season to grow you.
Here’s another perspective to consider: trust in God’s ability to speak to you, not in your ability to hear Him perfectly. It’s not your job to figure out when to move, what to do after, or where to go next. That’s His job. You’re not God—so relax and trust Him. When the time comes, you’ll know exactly what to do. Just remember to act quickly when He does direct you.
This week, spend intentional time with God. Pick one of the verses above and meditate on it. Let its truth sink in as you trust Him in this waiting period. You could also commit to worship or prayer when you’re feeling overwhelmed—shift your focus to Him and let His peace settle you.
And if you’re looking for more practical advice, check out my other post, ‘Spiritual Growth Towards Christ: Daily Habits.’ If you’ve already seen it, keep up the good work! It’s not easy, but the joy and peace from staying grounded in His love is so worth it. Keeping up those habits will anchor you through this season.
Remember, even when God feels quiet, He’s still with you and loves you deeply!
